Results of the 2nd edition of the International Forum on Intergrated Water Management

Over 400 participants took part in the 2nd edition of the international forum on Integrated – Stormwater Management in urban areas held from 23 to 25 October 2011.The event was organized by the  "Conseil de gouvernance de l’eau des bassins versants de la rivière St-François (COGESAF)" in partnership with the City of Sherbrooke and the University of Sherbrooke. 21 workshops have been presented by 60 speakers in three rooms in parrallel on different topics of stormwater management in urban area.

The Topics
The Internatinoal Forum Topics have been established by aprogram committee of 31 members from different sectors of water management. The workshops focused on the evaluation of new techniques to collect and clean rainwater, governance tools and urban development strategie and finally modeling tools. The diversity of topics brought together complementary disciplines, including civil engineering, urban planning,landscape architecture, municipal management and watershed management.

The opening panel
Sunday, October 23, a panel of seven experts exchanged views on the movie "· Water, nature and the city ·" written by Mr..Bernard Chocat Elodie Brelot. Nearly 200 people attended the opening activity.

The majority of participants of International Forum are from Quebec, but the representative of 8 Canadian provinces and 10 countries in North America, Europe, Oceania and Africa on the international nature to the event.

Poster Competition
The COGESAF, the City of Sherbrooke and the University of Sherbrooke is offered three scholarships to students selected by theevaluation panel posters.

  • Second prize ($ 750) ·: Mehdi Rezoug -Special Schools of Public Works (ESTP) - France
  • Third prize ($ 500) · Sylvain bent - École de technologie supérieure (ETS) - Canada
